I am usually a "CLI man", and CVS and diff/patch are a manual task for me. :)

Maybe a graphical tool makes life easier for you. If you are on Linux, try 
esvn (http://esvn.umputun.com/). I picked it after looking at kdesvn, 
svn-workbench, rapidsvn and esvn, as it seemed faster, nicer and all in all 
feature complete.
