As I understood it you will use the conditional include() as proposed by
Masi? In that case, +1 from me, so I think you can commit now.

It seems it was the Latin1-dark. Sorry for the confusion, I was also sure
that the core is saved in UTF-8. But after thinking about it, it appears
obvious to me that this is not the case.

PS: Remember that locallang.xml files ARE ALWAYS stored in UTF-8!
