Great! You have my full support!

I would not wait with this cleanup till 5.0, because my personal guess
is that it will take more than 1.5 years till 5.0 gets close to a
release - enough for the symlink removal to be worth it now.

Especially for Windows and easy FTP installation, this is very important.

Also, please move t3lib/thumbs.php into typo3/.

I'd be happy if this would go into beta3 so people can widely test it.
