I didn't thought too hard about examples, but someone said earlier that there could be situations where one or the other behaviuor could be mire desirable.

I can only think of custom extensions with very special data that may benefit from configurable defaults. eg setting the date for the next match when you know that matches always take place on a sunday or the likes.

Just an idea.
