I wonder why was there no feedback so far? I tried Sebastians patch and this
is really working great! Maybe it needs some improvement, but I think that
the hook concept is a great way for letting extensions make changes that
would break compatibility otherwise.

+1 for the concept
+1 for the code
+0 for how it looks like (maybe the font should be a little bit smaller)
