The patch looks like a very clean solution. I used it just to test if my
problem in the backend was fixed, and it really did :-)

I am +1 for the patch, BUT since it can break the compatibility, it will
require Kaspers feedback before you can commit it!

Just a notice: If something will break in future because of this patch, it
is most likely to happen because it has not been adapted to the new
t3lib_div::quoteJSvalue() function yet.

Question: Should the coding guideline be updated for this?
