Hey François,

As already pointed out by Robert, no decision has been taken yet; so far
we just experienced that *we* postprone documentation always quite a
bit. For myself, this is mostly due to the complex build chain, the
difficulty to render beautiful documents and the "un-agile" way of
writing DocBook. And when I am honest, docbook feels quite "big",
"enterprise", "complex". However, as you know, for a very long time,
I've been a strong DocBook advocate; and did not look seriously at
alternatives or tried them even out. And this made my life simpler --
always when it came to documentation, I said "DocBook" - as a
"one-size-fits-all" solution.

However, in the last weeks, I also looked at alternatives, mainly for
the Aloha Editor documentation. There, I found "Ruby Guides" [1] - where
you write Textile. And while this is clearly no DocBook competitor in
terms of features, it has showed to me that writing documentation can
actually be *fun* to do, and it can be *easy*; and the output looks - by
default - beautiful. And the toolchain is way easier to use.
While this is clearly no option for the TYPO3 Community, this episode
has shown to me to trust my "gut feeling" again, and that the happiness
of the people using a toolchain is ultimately important for its success.

This is no decision, as already said; but we should be open to new ideas
and concepts, and at least give them the chance to be tried out, and be
inspired by them.
And that's the current state -- we just need to try it out and see how
it feels.

Best regards,
Sebastian
