You need several symlinks:

typo3_src -> typo3_src-4.2.8
typo3 -> typo3_src/typo3
index.php -> typo3_src/index.php
t3lib -> typo3_src/t3lib/

Then the paths are correct. In TYPO3 4.2.8 there are no big changes from 
4.2.6.
