[TYPO3-bugs] Discussion: Close vs. resolve in Mantis Bugtracker

Hi folks,

as discussed already with Ernesto in typo3-dev, it seems that not
everyone handles bugtracker issues the same way. However, I think it's
important that we do so. Therefore I'd like to start a discussion about
it, followed by a poll some day next week...

The discussion is about closing vs. resolving issues. Here are three
different solutions:

1. Resolve bugs when fixed, close bugs when the fix has been released
2. Close bugs directly, don't use status "resolved" at all
3. Resolve bugs when fixed, have the reporter close them when fix is
confirmed (as proposed by the Mantis developers in their manual)

Additionally, opinions vary whether this applies to all sorts of issues,
or if it should be treated differently depending on the state of resolution.

For example, Ernesto resolves bugs after fixing them, but in case of a
duplicate issue, he closes them directly.

If you have comments, pro's and con's, feel free to post them here.
Someone can sum them up next week and start a poll about it...
