Well, if we had a team to filter incoming bugs they could look at "new" bugs, 
and either close them (because they refer to an unsupported version or are 
obviously bogus) or set them to "acknowledged" so that a member of the QA 
teamd can check it and either close or "confirm" it.

Then you as a developer assign it to you, knowing the bugs is real.

Oh, couldn't life be wonderful? :)
