Yes and no.

The Oxford English Dictionay says that the "correct" word is "deprecated". But in recent times a new word - analog to "appreciate" - has come in use: "depreciated". If it's ok by by OED, then it should be ok by us.

IMHO there are for worse spelling errors both in documentation and the API. The not-so-perfect English is part of TYPO3's charme :-)
