[TYPO3-mvc] ajax and validation

Hi All,

I was just wondering how to do validation when submitting a form from a 
fluid template with ajax.

The domain model, which is my controller argument gets validated  before 
my code in the controller action is executed, so I can't return e.g. a 
json with a custom error message.

Can anybody point me in the right direction?
