[TYPO3-mvc] How to make BE and FE users stay logged in?

Dear newsgroup,

how can i make a BE and FE user stay logged in although the user itself 
doesn't interact? Are there any API methods? Background is, that there 
is an extension that will make uploads of really large files possible 
in FE and BE (using chunked uploads) and the uploading process could 
take many minutes to hours...
