I did, too. And this might make it into the core sometimes (but even if 
not - it's just a matter of a few lines of code to implement it).
I also think, that this solution is much cleaner. You should not have to 
deal with templates and files in your controller - it's about business 
logic and that should apply whether the format is HTML, CSV or PDF or 
whatever ;)
