No, there is no "default". i want my text to be cropped as text and my 
html to be cropped as html.

if you guys want to be able to configure that stuff (even i'm not aware 
of one single case where this makes sense) we could introduce optional 
argument "format" to be set to "text" or "html".

but i definetly want to keep that autodetection by default ...
