that's a good catch. In most cases I think it's ok to preserve the 
format, but I think there should be a parameter in those methods to 
override the format. As a usecase I'm thinking about a PDF download 
version of some content or a secure file download, which might be 
triggered by a special format parameter, but a redirect on error or 
access violation should result in a HTML error message (if that makes 
sense).
