Hi all,

on the snowboard tour back in march Sebastian Kurfürst an I agreed that
it would be good for all active Fluid [1]/Extbase [2] developers as well
as all people interested in the new way of extension development for v4
to revise the Forge wiki and collect and compile a list of sources and
examples to push the development of extensions. To keep the development
of Fluid and Extbase at a good pace we also aim to get more people
involved in active envelopment of Extbase/Fluid to get the issues done
and rid of the personal bottleneck (see review process later on). As he
is directly involved in development we have Bastian Waidelich on board also.

Our goal was to meet once a week via Skype and publish a weekly status
summary for Fluid/Extbase on this list, as well as to revise and discuss
the current list of issues on Forge and to assign tasks and issues to
get the fixed. Today was our second meeting and I will give a combined
summary of both meetings here. Since we started last week (2010-06-10)
both worked on quite a few tickets and were able to resolve some
important issues.

With the latest release of TYPO3 - Version 4.4 - earlier this week,
Fluid and Extbase versions have been raised to 1.2.0 and remain in beta
state since they are not feature complete yet.

It ist planned to update the wiki [2] on a regular basis to create a
comprehensive collection of (online) resources and documentation as well
as a list of example sites and extension made with Extbase and/or Fluid.
In the last few weeks some books have been published about development
using Extbase and Fluid also [3][4].

Besides this organisational stuff we try to establish a review process
for patches to keep both branches (v4/v5) in sync. The backporter has
been updated recently and works again (but still needs some further
patches and enhancements as well as a defined process how to handle
non-backwards-compatible or breaking changes in v5). Selenium
tests/Hudson integration for both branches are planned/in progress as
well. We'll discuss this in detail on the TYPO3 Developer Days next week
in Hamburg and I will give you an updated status report on this list.

As always please feel free to share your ideas and comments with us!

All the best,
Andreas
