[TYPO3-mvc] Domain_Model: pid is null

could that be the reason why the sorting is not working in one of my 
repositories? I'm sorting by the "sorting" field of the table (defined 
as sorting table in TCA ctrl), but this field is not defined in the 
columns section of the TCA. Guess I need to check that.
