That is the case. As mentioned earlier, I can get the price updated
from articles.

The template has a line
<div class="tt-products-item-img"
id="###ARTICLE_IMAGE_ID###">###ARTICLE_IMAGE###</div>

which translates to something like

<div class="tt-products-item-img" id="tt-products-from-tt-products-articles-single-1-image-"><img src="uploads/pics/foobar.jpg" width="100" height="100" border="0" alt="" /><br /></div>

Shouldn't that do the trick? The span around price looks very similar
translating to

<div id="tt-products-price">$<span id="tt-products-from-tt-products-articles-single-1-pricetax">15.00</span></div>

So, I'm not too sure what is going wrong here.
