[TYPO3-shop] categories, sorting and markers in 2.7.0

Hey, I have the following problem:

I want to show a list of products, sorted by the 'sorting' field,
but the problem is that all those products have different categories 
(although they are in the same sysfolder), so they are grouped by 
categories before sorting is applied.
How can I make it "ignore" categories, and just display a list of products?
Is there a way to remove the ###ITEM_CATEGORY_AND_ITEMS### marker and 
use something else?
