Both is good, but for other purposes. For instance, I use
* standard payment: for customers who can pay invoices online via 
standard payment
* express checkout: this is for webshops etc.

On the checkout page, you can enter your name and credit card details and 
a new password and the PayPal account is created automatically. Or what 
do you mean?

Good question ;) I think standard payment is more easy to understand/
implement, but not the best solution for a professional Web shop.
