[TYPO3-shop] Simple question: How do you process payments?

As much as I have searched, I still haven't found a solution to this 
question.  This is kind of key to any shopping cart, and there are other 
working carts out there, so I think I must be missing something.

Could someone please explain to me, as simply as possible, what the 
general procedure is for using tt_products?  I can setup a basic cart 
and list products, but then how do I process the orders?  I see that 
paypal integration is on the "todo" list, so what solutions have people 
found for this?  Has everyone else just gone and written their own 
custom code to integrate with a payment gateway and just not contributed 
any of it back to the community?  I've used Payflow Pro before, so I 
could probably figure it out, but if there is another solution I would 
be very interested.

Another question, is it possible to do this with Commerce yet?  Since 
this is a new site, I'd rather start with it rather than trying to 
migrate from tt_products at a later time, but if it's still not quite 
ready for prime time, that's what I'll have to do as this project must 
be finished within a month.
