That's also my opinion about commerce - and that's why I came to believe
it will either never come out, or be dissappointing compared to the time
it took.
I remember Kaspers speech on TyCon3, where he said that maybe people
don't think they might contribute somewhere, because a seat is already
taken. Commerce is a good example for it.
The time it has been developed, it was also blocking other people in
developing a shop, because the news always where like "it's coming out
the next week!" - and who wants to spent time and energy on an extension
that will have a semi-official counterpart soon?
I started my own ideas on a shop system, that will be (from what I've
seen) more flexible than commerce - when I ever find the time to invent it.
And with TYPO3 v5.0 in the making, I really don't know if it's worth to
spent time on a v4.0 extension as big like this...

That's the point. Someone on the list said commerce actually is "closed
source" - he was definitely right.
Anyway, I still wish the development team good luck with their efforts,
maybe it will turn out good in the end. And TYPO3 still needs a shopping
system, that's for sure.
bye,
Thomas
