[Typo3-shop] how to setup coupon/gift certificates - help needed

hi list!

i've just upgraded an existing shop to the most recent tt_products TER 
version because i wanted to implement gift certificates.
unfortunately, there is no documentation available on how to do so.
if i add an gift item to the basket and finally order it, there is no 
voucher code created and mailed to the recipient.

can anybody help me with this?
