If I where to be working on this project I would ditch the tt_products
extension, and start a new one.

I think you'll have a very hard time making something that doesn't
break old installations, and at the same time is a state-of-the-art
shopping system.

IMHO the old extension is some of the most dated code in the whole
project. It was coded on another era, and it has passed.

Just my 5 cent, feel welcome to prove me wrong.
