Visit http://gaim.sf.net and download the IRC-client - it's available 
for both Windows and *nix.

You'll (and me too) will need some info about server, channel etc. from 
Volker, but in hte meantime you can try #typo3 at freenode:

Server: irc.freenode.net
Channel: #typo3
