[TYPO3-ttnews] Status of tt_news project

Is the extension tt_news completely dead now? Given that it is one of 
the most used extension of the TYPO3 CMS project, should there not be 
some clear direction given as to the status of said extension? And why 
does extension news system not have its own mailing list? It gets a bit 
confusing when there are two different projects using the same mailing list.
