[TYPO3-ttnews] Formatstring für Datum "01.01.2014" (n:format.date)

Hi,
 
the format string "%a, %d %b %Y %T %z" ist taken to format the date/time e.g. to "Donnerstag, 14. Februar 2013 12:09"  
 
How must I build the format string, to format the Date to "14.02.2014". "%d.%m.%y" doesn't work.
