[TYPO3-ttnews] tt_news updater - hhtp error 500 or "could not find module tools_em"

Hi there -

i updated an install from Typo 4.2 to 4.5.22 and tt_news from 2.5.0 to 
3.4.0.

when i click on the 'updater' link i get an HTTP error 500.
if i update typo3 to 6.0 i then get an error "could not find module 
tools_em" when trying to use the updater.

Any idea about what i can do to successfully run the updater?
