sorry but the counter is not the most important thing. news is by far 
the more friendly extension then tt_news, it is latest state of the art 
(not only extbase and fluid). And of course tt_news will get even more 
downloads (instead of news) if those extension will be mentioned in 
screencasts.

What is feature complete? IMO the next version will be even more feature 
complete then the previous one ;)

There was one the idea of a-class extension. IMO ext:news is by far more 
an a-class extension as tt_news because it is not only about the downloads.

but yes you can ignore this post as I am the main developer and founder 
of this extension
