[TYPO3-ttnews] Problems when assigning categories to news RC1/tt_news 2.2.40

Good to know I'm not alone. I first noticed this strange behaviour in
tt_news 2.2.24, and then read that it wasnt working with beta3/RC1. So I
swithced to 2.2.40, but the problem was still there.

A smaller site I'm developing with RC1, TV 0.50 and tt_news 2.2.24 is
working fine with categories, so I really dont know what to think.
