The former works (and is quite easy to set up).  For me, it lacks the
[tag to] link from any comment to a news item it belongs to; still it's
quite more convenient here than forum connector (which seems to have 
worked too but demanded considerably more time to get it running).

It depends on your site though; quite a few seem to use e.g. YaBB 
for a news commenting system, so maybe it's better for you.

Shouldn't be *way* too much hassle to setup both and compare yourself,
if the above is too fuzzy.
