[TYPO3-ttnews] New or edited articles are not shown

which TYPO3 version do you use?
this behaviour seems to be caused by the change I made to support the nested
fe_groups from TYPO3 4.0 in tt_news. The strange thing is, that it works
like it should in TYPO3 3.8.x and 4.0 on my local dev system (PHP5 & MySQL
5) but it is not working on my testserver which runs PHP4 and MySQL 4.
I changed the fe_groups field in the tt_news db-record from int to varchar
to allow a comma seperated list of fe_groups. But varchar seems to ignore
the "default 0" part in the create table statement of ext_tables.sql so
this field contains nothing in newly created or edited news records without
a fe_group.
Now back to the strange thing: It seems that the empty field is handled
differently in PHP4 and PHP5 (wasn't there some changes with the handling
of booleans?). The record is shown like it should on PHP5 but not on PHP4.

Expect this to be fixed in tt_news 2.3.3
