Actually, there is a difference in core.js files between the versions.. There was a point in time in which we stopped forcing heights on unframed modules and single modules. It was because of situations where content is placed in accordions and other things that do not like fixed heights. So, we only forced heights on framed modules in multi-module groups .

In the examples you gave you have three of the modules in the group unframed. You can compare the core.js files to see how it was done before. You can always use enableJQuery constant undo our code and include other in its place.
