[TYPO3-templavoila] Editing content elements on "Shortcut" type page

Hello list

I would like to be able to edit the content elements on the root page of my 
site as I use kb_content_slide and the same content appears on sub-pages. 
The root page itself is a shortcut and as such does not allow editing of 
content elements.

I've been looking for a solution and found an entry in the bugtracker but 
unfortunately it refers to an old version of typo3
