id don't think ist .htacess related if so you would get the wrong location  
instantly..
maybe you have a meta refresh or some javascript in your template file  
which triggers such a behavior.

but if in doubt you could simply rename the .htaccess file for a test to  
something like _htacess
test it. and afterwards restore the htaccess file.
