[TYPO3-Solr] config.index_enable = 1

Can anybody tell me why I should se config.index_enable = 1 for the solr to
work???

I have two sites running in the same BE and the first should have solr and
the other one indexed_search.
Setting config.index_enable = 1 in the first one that should run solr, nows
enables and this branch will add content to the indexed_search tables in
the database...... Am I doing something wrong???
