Hi,
I'm about to evaluate alternatives to indexed_search, since it fails completely under 6.2. Getting load off TYPO3 always seems to be a good idea, so I'd like to start with Solr. Having lost many weeks trying to get some stuff 6.2-ready, please answer some of my questions, if you can:
I'm on Ubuntu 12.04, php 5.3.10 (fcgid/suexec), TYPO3 6.2.0beta4/HEAD, OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.12.6)
1) Is the current community version (from Git) suitable for 6.2? "suitable" in my terms means that it might show some issues and glitches, but basically is working.
If so...
1a) I'm on FAL. Will my assets be indexed too?
2) I would prefer to use Apache Tomcat6 from my distribution, which is not the recommended way according to the Wiki. Are there any 'hard-reasons' to use another version?
3) Same question about Sun Java 1.6 (Open JDK may or may not work). Would be no real problem to setup another Java, but I would love to keep my server as slim as possible - and - even more important, semi-automaticaly maintained. Is there any chance to keep Mr. Oracle and the NSA out of it?
4) There's a php-part of the extension. Is it running as the same user TYPO3 is running on? This matters only in an fcgid environment, which I'm currently using.
Thanks for any answers,
Kind regards,
Thomas Skierlo
