Maybe you can add a call to the solr API to update/add the item yourself 
to the indexing queue [2] upon persisting the object?

It's pretty ugly to work with UIDs in extbase, but this could make it 
work. Maybe Georg Ringer's "news" extension has a nice solution for this?
