That shouldn't be a problem. Until yesterday it used Indexed Search 
(*cough*). Solr is now used on the internet part of the installation, 
but because of the problems for the intranet part I re-installed IS and 
crawler. Both are running fine and the crawler was re-indexing the 
intranet part happily. At least they have (a rather slow) search back on 
the intranet for now.
