Yeah!!! Removed all parts of Solr, downloaded 1.4 and after unpacking, 
copying a few files around, setting the solr home right it was up and 
running literally in minutes.

Should there be a Windows XAMPP section in the wiki on forge? I have no 
problem writing down the configuration steps which are working for me.
