[TYPO3-irre] edit fields of child record only with useCombination selector box?

Hi,

First of all thank you very much for your wonderful work! It offers a 
very smart solution for many tasks and - most important in my eyes - 
simplyfies the work for the editor. Thanks so much.

My question is hopefully not asked too often. I checked a lot but did 
not find an explanation:
I can only edit the fields of a child record directly in the parent 
record when "foreign_selector" is set AND "useCombination" is on. I do 
not see the point of the "useCombination" part. I'd like that behaviour 
but without the "selector box" which appears with "useCombination", is 
that possible?

Maybe this could be a future request (if it's not already implemented 
and I'm just too stupid). In some cases it might even be smart to limit 
the list of fields that is passed through to parent record. So when 
editing a child record directly you see all fileds of course. But when 
editing the parent record only defined fields of the child are shown?
