Hi Dirk,

if the response is an 500 Server error, there should be an entry in the 
php error log or in syslog if Typo3 is configured for that.

If you want to debug what's going on on the server; the starting point 
would be
\EBT\ExtensionBuilder\Controller\BuilderModuleController::dispatchRpcAction
