[TYPO3-extbase-kickstarter] How to "reconnect" an older ext to a newer version of the ext builder

I would like to load the https://github.com/castiron/cicregister extension
to get a quick overview in the modeler, however the extension_builder
(v2.5.2 in typo3 v6.1) does not seem to recognize it as being 'native'.

How can I hack the extension so that the latest extension_builder likes it
better?
