Hmmm, confusion all around:

If you want to check out via git use the git URL from my first mail:
git://git.typo3.org/TYPO3v4/Extensions/extension_builder.git

If you want to download the extension follow the instructions from my 
last mail:
go to http://git.typo3.org/TYPO3v4/Extensions/extension_builder.git and 
click on the highest "snapshot" link. Currently it is:
http://git.typo3.org/TYPO3v4/Extensions/extension_builder.git?a=snapshot;h=50a363cfae7406e4f6ced5eb832adf550804308d;sf=tgz
