Well, we'd merge the related changes into the correct branch as well.
And with any release we do, the documentation is included, so we could
even have the correct manual for every release ever done.

This is simplifying things a little, I admit. E.g. it leaves out new
parts of the documentation that have been written after a release but
still would apply for that.

But at least per branch the documentation should be correct for the
latest version on that branch.
