[TYPO3-commerce] ? in adminmail and usermail_template

I've got a problem with the representation vom the ? symbol, but the
problem appears only the adminmail and usermail_template. up to
now, haven't changed the templates. i'm still using the default templates
provided by the extension.

instead of  ? i get a rhomb with a questionmark inside.

I've already changed the tableentry of static_currencies to "&euro";
and this works very fine, but only in the frontend and not in both
mailtemplates.

what could be the reason?
and how to change it?
