i just check my test setup and the HTTP-Test seems to work fine using a https:// URL.

Could you please check, if it's working for you, if you using the "7compatible" branch from github?

Further, could you please try requesting the instance using curl on your terminal:

# curl -v -i https://foobar.com/index.php?eID=tx_caretakerinstance&rst=1

(https://foobar.com/ is the exact instance URL like configured in your instance record)
