The resolving of symlinks needs to be done for the following request.

If you assign filemounts to groups it could happen that a user has access to filemounts which are
nested. In this case you might want to remove the ones that are subdirs of others.

I'm not saying that your plans make no sense at all. I'm saying that other organizations/companies
might have other ideas on what makes a good sorting for mounts.
