[Typo3-marketing] Maths on TYPO3 Installations

Hi folks,

JH just checked, the current number of unique IP's that have accessed the
TER is:
72.000

The TER has been accessed almost 2500000 (that's right two point five
million!) times.

This makes an average access of the TER of 34,7 times per IP. I would say
this makes it quite likely, that we have more than 72.000 installations.

For fun, i tried some primitive maths:
Let's ignore the unique IP's for a second, since one server can have many
TYPO3 installations.
I would guess that a good average number of TER-access times is around 5
times (including test installations), giving us 500000 live installations,
meaning an average of 6,94 installations per IP.

A series looks like this:

Average TER access per inst | total installations | inst per IP

2 1250000 17,36
5 500000 6,94
8 312500 4,34
10 250000 3,47
15 166666,667 2,31
20 125000 1,74
25 100000 1,39
50 50000 0,69

If we remain with 5 average TER-access instances per installation and 9 out
of ten are test installations, we get 50000 live TYPO3-sites.

Of course this is all speculation, but it's also Friday afternoon :-)

Cheers

Daniel
